Welcome to Elawtalk.com which is a law blog I publish for fun because of my interest and passion in the law.
I graduated from the faculty of law at the University of Alberta in 2005.
I was admitted into the British Columbia Bar in 2006.
I practiced criminal defence, personal injury and family law from 2006 until 2012.
In 2012 I stopped practicing law to launch my web publishing business.
My status with the Law Society of British Columbia is non-practicing lawyer in good standing.
Why publish Elawtalk.com?
I do this for fun. I enjoy reading about ongoing court cases and developments in the law in Canada and the USA.
Most legal information is published on law firm websites. While much of it is excellent (it really is), I thought it would be fun to muse about the law with an editorial bent and to include some fun law content as it’s consumed and understood in popular culture such as novels, TV shows, the media and movies.
There is no specific legal focus here; I simply write and publish about what interests me within the legal realm.
While I no longer practice law, I’m a non-practicing member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.
Why did I stop practicing law?
I liked practicing law, but happen to like publishing magazine-style websites more. With Elawtalk.com I’m able to combine both interests.
Please note that as a non-practicing member I’m not able to provide legal advice. This blog and website is for informational purposes only. Please, please, please consult a practicing lawyer in your jurisdiction if you have any legal question at all.
